Staff Accountant Job Purpose:
Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts; preparing financial statements.
Accounting Manager Job Purpose:
Supervises staff accountants. In this important customer-facing role, the accounting manager is responsible for all client communications and client deadlines.
Staff Accountant Job Duties:
Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
Maintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying data.
Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.
Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Accounting Manager Duties:
Supervises staff accountants.
Ensures timely completion of monthly closes and other accounting tasks.
Effectively communicates with clients.
Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
Prepares Incurred Cost Submissions and Provisional Billing Rates
Answers accounting and financial questions through our Help Desk.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, or Associate’s degree with relevant work experience. Reporting Skills, Deadline-Oriented, Time Management, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality, PC Proficiency, Productivity, Verbal Communication, General Math Skills. Familiarity with FAR, DCAA, and Quickbooks required.
